Mel Cohen, CFP
A How to Book
This is the book that started it all! In 1991, Mel self-published his own book, The Secret of the Pros: How to Become a Baseball Card Dealer, during the height of the trading card boom. The book sold out its entire 25,000 print run all before Amazon was established. Mel’s book marketing skills are a legendary facet of his hands-on experience.
This led to Mel gaining extensive experience writing published articles, major media appearances, and serving as an expert witness in trading card insurance fraud cases. Mel also served as an expert witness for the plaintiff in the largest class action lawsuit involving trading card companies for a period of five years. This led to substantial amounts of extra revenue all generated by his book.
Mel then evolved into the publishing world in 2006 and founded Inspired Authors Press LLC in 2012. Since 2006 Mel has marketed and sold well over 2,000,000 books in fifty languages and produced over sixty licensing agreements. Mel has contracted for printing in the U.S. and other countries depending on the size and scope of the project. He has produced both fiction and nonfiction for most genres including Action and Adventure, Biographies. Business, Christian Themed, Comic Books and Graphic Novels, Cookbooks, History, Magazines, Poetry, Self-Help, and more covering all age brackets.

When we asked for your help last August to help us with our book WoW What a Trip! you came with high recommendations from people who know. Frankly, we didn’t know what to expect. We just knew there were important aspects of publishing a book where we were uninformed. I had been involved with the publication of three books and had some familiarity with the process and the challenges.
From the “get go” you began to give us very important advice. Even though we wanted a book we would be proud of you went over the top to help the book be much better than we imagined. There were many important decisions that you guided us through that saved us money, time and gave us the quality that makes an important difference.
Your marketing plan went well beyond what we expected. It is a map to optimize the sale of the book. The specific research you provided is going to save us time and properly direct us to sales. We hope this will be the first of a series of books and we will be looking for your help on the next journey.

“Mel Cohen provided expert guidance and counsel throughout the process of publishing my first children’s book series. Mel provided sage advice at every step in the process, from my first phone call asking him if “I really had a story” to the soon to be completed third book in the Everybody Loves Grace series.
Mel educated me throughout the process and explained the technical considerations along with the marketing strategy for the series. As a result, I consistently made smart decisions that resulted in a beautiful illustrated book series that will ultimately enhance children’s lives through the stories they tell.”

“I have been to one event where Mel Cohen was the speaker and have had a personal consultation with him.
I was working on my own book (Mastering Poker Math) at the time of Mel’s presentation and when I had a consultation afterwards. Mel’s presentation was called AMAZON Friend or Foe!
Mel’s presentation style is clear, crisp and professional. He addressed Amazon pricing, Amazon Marketplace, Author Central, Amazon Associates and more. He also discussed getting reviews and advertising. Overall it was very information rich.
I also had one consultation with Mel and was able to gain some excellent insight into the publishing and promoting of my book.”
