Royal Wulff Dry Fly The original idea for hair wing patterns came about in the 1920’s in several locations simultaneously. In the late 20’s Lee Wulff specifically looked to upgrade a Royal Coachman fan wing with hair wings and tail. Right up there with the Adams, the Royal Wulff is one of the most well-known dry flies of all time. Considered “strawberries and cream” by trout, don’t be afraid to feed them desert any time of day.
